Overview

Communication between tenants and property managers in huge rental complexes is mostly old-fashioned. If tenants face a problem, they must go to
the property manager’s office and submit a request on paper for the problem to be fixed. From there, the manager puts all the requests in the queue to be served. When they want to accommodate a request, they send an entry permission paper with the date and time to the tenant. The tenant might not be available at that time; or it might not be a good time to have someone in their house fixing something for a couple of hours. I believe this miscommunication can be avoided by using a tenant/property manager app. Such an app can offer a lot of services and can ultimately result in an efficient communication.

User Research

Based on the survey result I got a better understanding of user's needs and goals. The majority of users have to communicate with their property managers frequently. The process of submitting a request and getting a response usually takes a couple of days if not more. Almost half of the
users believe that the communication process can get improve and become more efficient and all of the users are using digital devices, and all have a smartphone.

Users are mostly not happy with this process and they want immediate action when they submit a request. They found submitting a request frustrating and sometimes resulting in not receiving what they want. Here is my primary persona and empathy map.
